Nikolay Eryomenko was the People's Artist of the BSSR (1967), People's Artist of the USSR (05.07.1989). After graduating from the vocational school Nikolay Eryomenko worked as a turner. He graduated from the courses of junior lieutenants in Novosibirsk (1942). Eryomenko was a participant of the Great Patriotic War. At the age of 18 he went to the front, being wounded he was surrounded and was taken prisoner. Eryomenko managed to survive in a fascist concentration camp, from which he tried to escape several times. Then he fought in the underground group of the Resistance. In 1948 he graduated from the Theater Studio named after Yakub Kolas. In 1948-1959 he was an actor of the Yakub Kolas Theater in Vitebsk. Since 1959 - actor of the Belarusian Academic Theater named after Yanka Kupala in Minsk. His wife was an actress Galina Orlova and his son was an actor Nikolay Eryomenko, Jr. (1949-2001). He passed away on June 30, 2000, from a heart attack in Minsk. The funeral of the actor took place on July 4 at the Eastern cemetery of the Belarusian capital. Next to Nikolay Eremenko, Sr., was buried his son Nikolay Eryomenko, Jr., who died 11 months after his father's death.
