Robert Zimmer, Jr. is a writer, producer, director, and media consultant based in Austin, Texas, and Los Angeles, California. A graduate in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas at Austin, he is principal owner of Deeper Magic Communications and is also a partner in several multimedia ventures. Zimmer began his career as a creative executive for legendary producer Aaron Spelling, where Zimmer worked on a number of Spelling's hit TV series and films including The Usual Suspects, Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, and 7th Heaven. As a television writer, he staffed for Star Trek: Voyager, Spelling's Sunset Beach, and ABC's Port Charles, and was nominated for a WGA Award. His produced feature films include Half-Life (an official selection at the 2008 Sundance, SXSW, GenArt, Outfest, Los Angeles Film Festivals, and thirty other festivals); and Thank You, Good Night, starring Christian Campbell, John Paul Pitoc, Sally Kirkland, and Mark Hamill. Zimmer also served as consulting producer on Matthew Mishory's award-winning short firm Delphinium: A Childhood Portrait of Derek Jarman (an official selection at the 2010 Frameline, Newfest, Reykjavik, Mix Brazil, and BFI London Lesbian and Gay Film Festivals, and over 20 other festivals). Zimmer's upcoming film projects as producer are director Matthew Mishory's features Joshua Tree 1951: A Portrait of James Dean and Portland. Zimmer also has produced and directed a number of award-winning commercials, including ads for Match.com. Also active in politics, Zimmer writes a weekly political column for 411mania.com. He also worked on Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, and served as Communications Director for for NotBush.com during the 2004 presidential campaign.
