Sugizo grew up learning Music. His father who is Japanese-Chinese plays trumpet in the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Sugizo's mother who is Japanese-German plays cello in the same orchestra. When he was young, His father had him practice violin for 3 hours a day. Sugizo also plays cello, flute, guitar, bass, piano and supposadly several other instruments. When Sugizo was 17 he formed a rock band called "Pinocchio" with his good friend Shinya. At livehouses, he met up with another band called "Lunacy", formed by J (Bass) and Inoran (Guitar). When "Pinocchio" disbanded, Sugizo (Guitar) and Shinya (Drums) joined them on January 16, 1989. "Lunacy" then had no vocalist, but a year later they found Ryuichi. A couple months after Ryuichi joined, they changed their name to "Luna Sea" to have more of a peacful tone to it. Thus forming one of Japan's most popular Rock bands to date. They were one of the first bands to show the ever so popular "visual" look, which was started by the band X Japan a few years earlier (The guitarist of that band. hide, was also the person who discovered Luna Sea, and signed them to a major record label). Over the next 10 years, Luna Sea made a total of 11 CDs. Sadly at the end of 2000 they announced their break up. Since then, Sugizo has gone solo. He currently has 5 albums out, and appeared in a movie _Soundtrack (2001)_, for which he composed the entire soundtrack. He is currently still composing and putting out singles. Recently he put out "Super Love" which is a lovely take on '70s music, yet still keeps Sugizo's touch.
