Abla Khoury

Abla Khoury obtained her Bachelor degree in Arts and Theater from L'Institut d'Etudes Scéniques Audiovisuelles et Cinématographiques (IESAV) in 1995, and has since been dedicated to various forms of visual art. Khoury acted on stage and screen in groundbreaking works such as, "West Beirut" (Ziad Doueiri, 1998), "Algiers-Beirut: A Souvenir" (Merzak Allouache, 1998), and "Terra Incognita" (Ghassan Salhab, 2002) all internationally recognized marking Arab Cinema. She has directed, written and acted in various projects held at La Madina Theater in Beirut, The House of World Culture in Berlin, and La MaMa Theater in New York. Abla worked as Casting and Assistant Director on many noticeable films such as, "Caramel" (Nadine Labaki), which premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, Unit Production Manager in "Circumstance" (Maryam Keshavarz), winner of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award, and Executive Producer in "1958" and Casting Director in "The Last Man", both directed by Ghassan Salhab. Abla has also taken on the titles of Acting Coach and Assistant Director in several other projects. In 2009 Abla Khoury and Lara Karam Chekerdjian co-founded Ginger Beirut Productions, a film production company that has since worked on several awarded films.
