Bachir Boumaaza aka 'Athene' is a well-known Internet activist and philanthropist who rose to fame as a professional gamer and the first popular YouTube gamer with the channel 'AtheneWins'. After establishing a platform with gaming and parody content as well as thought-provoking Vlogs, he and his colleague videographer Reese Leysen went on to engage in a wide range of activist and philanthropic endeavors from raising awareness around net neutrality to documenting the Ebola crisis in Liberia in a full length film titled 'The End of Ebola' as well as raise more than $23 million to date for Save the Children through their fundraising platform GamingForGood. Athene is the founder of 'Project No Excuse' that is referred to at the end of the 'What is Consciousness?' documentary, a global movement of activists with headquarters in Germany.
