Born in Paris-France. Philippe Azoulay is an appreciated film-documentaries director. Philippe Azoulay and friends founded a stage theatre company. They performed on stage and in various TV sketches. Meanwhile he joined the famous leader Sygma TV press agency as an assistant film editor then became both editor and camera reporter. In 1986, participated to his first documentary film on student's revolt in France, and his first big hit "The President's 80 Musketeers". He also directed various music videos and photographed music bands on tour. Then he founded a film production company: Rosebud Productions. He directed shorts and mediums fiction films, variously selected in film festivals. The short film comedy "Le Syndrôme de Gilles de la Tourette" was honored several times. This short film has been distributed by (Amlf-Pathe) and proposed in more than 350 theaters in France. With Rosebud he also produced and directed more than 60 documentary films worldwide broadcasted and many times honored. He also conceived, directed and produced many TV formats and programs broadcasted on main European networks such as TF1, Canal +, France Televisons, Arte, France 5, Channel 4, RTBF, ART TV, PBS, MTV, Paris Premiere,... For the Paris Match press magazine 50 birthday's Philippe Azoulay was asked to conceive, produce (always thru Rosebud) and directed a film commercial mainly proposed in the French theaters. The film "50 seconds for 50 years" was acclaimed. It was conceived with more than a thousand pictures edited frame by frame. From exploration and journey to his cinema passion Philippe Azoulay offered the audience various kind of "genre" of documentaries: "The President's 80 Musketeers" Philippe was embedded with the French President François Miterrand's Secret Service (G.S.P.R.) task force for more than a year. The film shows how a President lives behind the scene. "How to remain discreet and safe when every body's watching you!". The film hadbeen broadcasted on French leader TF1 and had been highly commented. "Alert in Antarctica" (1994) was on of the first document showing the environmental issue and ecological risk. Embedded with archaeologists of "the Antarctic Institute", Philippe went in Antarctica and lived in a military camp charged to support an share archaeologists journey. With "The photographic adventure", a 10 times documentary series, he conceived acclaimed photographers to join him in this adventure such as Henri Cartier Bresson, Richard Avedon, Brassaï, Irving Penn, Jean Loup Sieff, Sebastiao Salgado, Capa, and many others great photographers has been a main event. It is Philippe's homage to photography. Claude Azoulay (Philippe's Father) covered up all the wars since the 50' and was one of the main staff member of the prestigious Paris Match press magazine for more than 40 years... The documentary collection has been broadcasted all around the world. He subsequently founded another production company: Az You Like Films. He produced and directed "Shoot to live" A 5 years production film documentary, a journey thru artistic creation and the meaning of life. Many personalities joined him on the path of this singular film doc.
