Rachel Marsden

Director | Writer | Actress
Date of birth : 12/02/1974
City of birth : Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Rachel Marsden was born in Vancouver, Canada. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Science from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, and then earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the BC Institute of Technology. She is currently pursuing post-graduate studies in national security studies in the USA. After reporting and anchoring for a Vancouver cable news channel, Marsden left Vancouver in 2000 to take a position as production assistant on ABC's 20/20 (1978) news, where she was also assistant to anchor Connie Chung. Her career really took off when she began writing political columns for print and online publications. In January 2004, she was picked up by United Press International. Known for her straight-shooting, irreverent writing style, her columns landed her a fellowship with Stanton Evans' 'National Journalism Center' in Washington, DC (alumni include Ann Coulter, Debbie Schlussel and Terry Moran), and an assistant producer gig with nationally-syndicated talk show host, Blanquita Cullum, of the Radio America Network in Washington, DC. She went on to work as the Director of Development and Fundraising for a Republican think-tank on Capitol Hill. Marsden has worked as a political campaign manager, and is often refered to as the 'female Karl Rove' for her ability to plan and execute effective communications and messaging strategies. In 2004, Marsden started hosting "The Rachel Marsden Radio Show", a weekly political talk show. She has appeared on CNN's 'Crossfire' and on CNBC's 'Dennis Miller Show', and has recorded audio commentaries for the USA Radio Networks.
