Phil Kubel

Phil Kubel is an eight-time Emmy Award winning Producer/Director and is the Executive Director of The Hollywood Professional Association (HPA). Phil started his career in Northern California where he worked in various production jobs including Camera and Floor Director for the morning news at the ABC affiliate in Sacramento, a production assistant for the PBS show Reading Rainbow, and a Grip for the syndicated magazine show Scratch. Phil's entertainment career expanded to the film industry after he moved to Southern California in the 90's. His film work included Development Assistant at Walt Disney Studios, consultant at Piller2, and working in the Art Department on the feature film Hail Caesar, starring Robert Downey Jr., Samuel Jackson and Anthony Michael Hall. In 1997 Phil transitioned from film back to TV as he began work at Santa Anita Park producing and directing live racing shows for Fox Sports. As the "dot com" boom hit, Phil launched a prominent web-hosting/design company and created one of the first ever interactive video horse racing sites that quickly paved the path and showed promise for the future of video streaming and on-demand content. In 2003 Phil became one of the founding members of HRTV, a national television network that featured equestrian and horse racing content. Phil was instrumental in the design, engineering and production build of the studios and broadcast facility which were located at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA. Phil was responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of all Digital Media, Production and Technology initiatives at HRTV including creating the subscription based HRTV.com which quickly became the leading industry platform with over 10,000 videos on-demand and a social media presence with a weekly reach of over 6,000,000 fans. In addition to Phil's technical portfolio, Phil served as Vice President of Post Production for HRTV and was the creative force behind the critically acclaimed documentary series "Inside Information" in which he traveled the world with the show as Producer, Writer, Director, and Cinematographer and proudly led the series to 10 Emmy wins and 2 Eclipse awards within 3 years. HRTV was sold in 2015 and Phil was tapped as the Vice President and Executive Producer for a new Digital Media initiative for The Stronach Group. Under Stronach Digital, Phil oversaw the launch of XBTV, which is now one of the industry leading multi-media horse racing products available providing insight and analysis for wagering customers. With over 30 years of experience, Phil continues to work in several aspects of the film, digital media and television industries. PK Productions, Phil's production company, has developed and produced projects for Hewlett Packard, Intel, Mercedes-Benz, Kodak, Fox Entertainment, Banc of California, and Cancer Free Generation. PK Productions is in development on a documentary on the legendary actor and radio pioneer, Art Baker. Phil is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he studied film and communications. He lives in Glendale, CA with his wife, daughter and son and has served on the board of Glendale Sunrise Rotary, Glendale Arts, Alex Theater and the Glendale International Film Festival.
