Marilyn Freeman is a multi-time recipient of Washington's Artist Trust Fellowship in Media Arts and is nationally recognized for producing award-winning nonfiction media art in a public service context. Now in development is her award-winning screenplay, Sophisticated - based on the life of Hollywood film director Dorothy Arzner. Freeman's experimental feature film, Group (2002), distributed by Frameline, stars Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein, Nomy Lamm and Lola RocknRolla. Freeman's work can be seen at Washington OneNet (2016), TriQuarterly Online (2012), Blackbird (2010), Ninth Letter (2009); in The Fourth Genre (2012) and in Rolling Stone Magazine. Freeman is co-founder of the media arts studio, Wovie.
