A multiple award-winning script writer and UK script consultant, Matthew's first short film was commissioned by Channel Four in 1994, and starred Ewan McGregor. Matthew was part of the core writing teams on Emmerdale (BAFTA shortlisted) Family Affairs, and Eastenders for the BBC - where he wrote the episode where 'Alfie' told 'Kat' he loved her. Matthew was also part of the storylining team that changed the fortunes of the UK soap Hollyoaks and tripled its viewing figures in 2006/2007. In recent years he's worked on a number of feature film re-writes for produced UK feature films through his website matcoop.co.uk. He's also worked closely with American film makers and producers from across the world as a script consultant (often uncredited). He's a re-write specialist, and also talented at developing scripts for film, TV or online platforms from scratch. He's one of the first script writers in the UK to work exclusively through his own website, which offers a comprehensive script writing service for producers at all levels of experience. In 2019 Matthew started shooting Markham, his feature debut as a director. Markham was shot, guerrilla style over a number of months on a small budget. Matthew retained control over all aspects of the shoot and both pre and post production. Matthew also retained control of marketing and distribution, which would be done online. Other films as a director are in development. Matthew is also a keen blogger, a digital advocate, but often shoots projects on the analogue Super 8 format. He lives and works in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
