Jeff started out to become an actor after graduating high school in 1963. He left Vermont on a 49cc moped headed for Hollywood. In Pennsylvania he traded the moped for a bus ticket. He made it as far as Anaheim, CA, where he worked as an apprentice and scene changer at Melodyland Theatre. After a couple months surviving on fast-food hamburgers he decided there might be some value in actually studying acting, which he did at the University of Vermont. The Army interrupted his acting career for several decades. After retiring as a colonel, he returned to acting in 1997. He has continued to appear in television, film, and stage productions ever since.
