David Porter

David joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1972 and performed as a bass-baritone within the chorus, also playing the small roles of Bob Becket in "HMS Pinafore", Giorgio in "The Gondoliers", and Mr Blushington in "Utopia, Ltd." (also recorded for Decca, and currently still available on CD). He also occasionally substituted in various principal roles including those of The Pirate King in "The Pirates of Penzance" and Mountararat in "Iolanthe". He left the D'Oyly Carte in 1975, and since 1982 has regularly performed with "The Magic of Gilbert and Sullivan" concert group.
