Safia has French, Iraqi and German roots, and speaks fluently French, German and English. The daughter of an Iraqi sociologist and a French translator was born and raised in Germany, her grandfather's native country. She grew up in Saarbruecken, close to the French frontier, starting acting at the age of 13. One of her first performances on-stage was the part of Mrs Martin in Eugene Ionesco's absurd play "The Bald Soprano", which had a nice success in the local press. At that time she also made her first on-screen appearance in the television feature "Ein unmoeglicher Lehrer". As soon as Safia had finished school, she started traveling and focused entirely on acting. In 1999 she attended the Konservatorium of Vienna in Austria, where she studied drama and acting. After studying she went back to Germany for a few years and started working in different countries, on several film and theatre projects. The European actress now resides in Paris, traveling between France and Germany.
