Mary-Ann was born in Malta GC, to a serving British Army Dental Officer, William, and wife Patricia. A sister was born a year later and the family moved to Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland, before staying in a haunted house in Ardesier, Invernesshire. The family was then 'posted' to Singapore, for three years, where daughter number three was born. Returning to the UK, the next 'posting' was three years in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, managing to escape just before The Troubles took hold. The girls were educated in Scotland at boarding school, The Convent of The Sacred Heart, Kilgraston. Leaving School after a decent amount of achievements and exams passed, Mary-Ann was immediately accepted into the R.S.A.M.D. [Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama], Glasgow, without the usual second interview; the college did not like to take students straight from school, but made an exception in this case. Graduating in 1976, Mary-Ann's career has been predominantly in theatre, all around the UK, and in London's West End, at The Aldwych, The Albery and The Piccadilly theatres, with some computer game, radio and other voice-work as well as many appearances in TV and film along the way.
