Geoff Harris is an award-winning director of some of the UK's most high profile and highly regarded TV dramas. He is now producing and directing a number of US set feature films in his favourite genre - psychological thriller. His TV work, quickly secured his reputation for making visually stylish and cinematic films, with natural, strong performances, on series including London's Burning, The Knock, Dream Team and Soldier Soldier with Dougray Scott and James Nesbitt. To gain a deeper understanding of how actors work, he studied 'The Art And Craft Of Acting' a Stanislavski based technique, encompassing elements of psychology and philosophy, which gave him the tools to help actors create characters of depth and complexity. As a kid, Geoff's earliest influence was the film Mary Poppins. He was so enthralled by the magic of this fantasy world and the 'impossible to believe' mixing of live-action and animation, that his choice of career was sealed. He began as a film editor, working on commercials, documentaries and dramas, learning the essence of film structure, absorbing diverse visual styles, and then moved on to create his own work. Geoff wrote and directed many science documentaries for the BBC including the award-winning drama documentary 'In The Light Of New Information' for the BBC's flagship series, 'Horizon'. While making this film he discovered the fun and satisfaction of working with actors. Creating not only stories, but people, who have lived fascinating lives, even before we meet them onscreen. Geoff is now producing two medium budget US set thrillers to direct himself - 12 Days and Children Of The Rain, along with the music bio-pic, Syd, about Syd Barrett, founding member of Pink Floyd, which will go out to another director.
