Laura De Casto was Managing Director of Tartan Films from January 1999 (then Metro Tartan Distribution) until November 2007, where she was responsible for the steady growth of the company to become one of the most dynamic and leading UK independent distributors. Her releases included such critically acclaimed and commercially successful titles such as: 'Ivansxtc.', 'Secretary', 'Les Triplettes de Belleville', 'The Cooler', 'Capturing The Friedman's', 'Super Size Me', 'The Machinist' starring Christian Bale, Wong Kar Wai's 'In The Mood For Love' and '2046' and Nick Cave and John Hillcoat's 'The Proposition' starring Ray Winstone, Danny Huston and Guy Pearce. In 2001, De Casto was instrumental in the launch of Tartan's Asia Extreme brand, with 'Audition' and 'Battle Royale' which became synonymous with the most cutting edge and exciting new products from the East and has launched films such as 'The Ring', 'Dark Water', 'Oldboy', 'Lady Vengeance', 'A Tale of Two Sisters' and 'Infernal Affairs' (remade as the Best Picture Oscar-winner 'The Departed'). De Casto was involved as producer on all Tartan Films' productions and has participated on numerous international panels and juries including BAFTA, The British Film Industry's Sutherland Trophy; British Independent Film Awards and Raindance. She's a member of BAFTA and The European Film Academy and now produces films to be shot in the US and the UK.
