Born and raised in New Jersey, Jon's film career when he moved to San Francisco and wrote, directed, and produced his first short film called "Downtown." The film went on to play two sold-out screenings at the 1999 Mill Valley Film Festival. Inspired by his early success, Jon set out to make his first feature film with collaborator/screenwriter, Scott Rothman ("Fratboy", Warner Independent). Although their film, entitled "Eddie's Dead", was ill fated, the experience of producing and directing gave the young filmmaker invaluable insight and first-hand knowledge. With the intent of becoming a better director, Jon began taking acting classes at the Jean Shelton Actor's Theater in San Francisco. In 2003, Jon turned his attention to playwriting and wrote the three-act play, "Big Mouth". Under Jon's direction, "Big Mouth" debuted at The Actors' Theatre of San Francisco in August of that year and had a very successful run. Subsequently, the play received an honorable mention at the 2004 Actors' Theatre (Santa Cruz) Full Length Play Contest. In 2005, Jon adapted "Big Mouth" for the screen and named the film version "The Full Picture." "The Full Picture" won the grand prize for best feature at the 2008 Rhode Island International Film Festival and was a surprise hit on the 2009 festival circuit.
