Ilker Canikligil is a Turkish film director, writer and editor. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1991. In 1992, he started studying at Marmara University Cinema TV Department. He started his career by shooting 3 short films (Nobetci 1992, Agac 1994, Ucmak Istiyorum 1995). After graduation, he worked in the commercial film industry for a while and also continued to master and artistic qualification programs. In 1999, he began to teach at the Cinema TV Department of Istanbul Bilgi University. He won a prize in Clermont Ferrand in 2001 with his short film, "Simulacra". He became an associate professor in the same year. In 2005, he translated Walter Murch's book "In The Blink Of An Eye" with the name "Goz Kirparken" to Turkish.. He resigned from academy in 2006. In the same year he directed the pilot section of a directory called "Ecinniler". Immediately afterwards, he edited the film "Gen" and won the "Best Editing" award at the 13th Adana Altin Koza Film Festival. In 2007, he published his book "Cinema with Digital Video". Between 2010-2014 he taught cinematography in Istanbul Bahcesehir University . Since 2014, he has been running the Directorate Workshop at the Istanbul Film Academy.
