Berry de Mey

Berry de Mey is a former professional Dutch bodybuilder. In the 80s De Mey took part in many national and international bodybuilding competitions. In 1985 he became world champion in London at the World Games by defeating other rivals from the USA and Russia. In 1988 De Mey achieved his greatest success in the IFBB Mr. Olympia bodybuilding event in Los Angeles. He won the bronze, Lee Haney won that year Mr. Olympia and Rich Gaspari finished second. Besides of his earned prestigious titles, the first place in the IFBB Mr. Europe in 1982 is still considered one of the most spectacular victories. De Mey won the title as a junior (20 years old only) in the seniors category heavyweights. Known more for his shape and perfect proportions rather than for his size, Berry sculpted one of the greatest physiques in the world. He appeared in numerous competitions and magazines during an illustrious career, accomplishing a feat that only Arnold Schwezeneger matches - winning the IFBB Mr. Europe senior competition at the age of a junior. However, Berry suffered an injury that ended his career as a bodybuilder. Since Berry de Mey in 1994 gave up his professional bodybuilding career, he became a professional photographer. In 2011 he founded Berry de Mey Nutrition, a company of nutritional supplements.
