Dani Carlaw

I am Grierson and BAFTA award winning with over 20 years' experience as a versatile multi-hyphenate and innovative creative in TV production and development. As Head of Unscripted at Screen Scotland, I fluidly mix the skills I attained from my career in TV to bring expertise to the growth of the Unscripted Sector from within Scotland, across the UK and internationally. In this role I have also cultivated an award winning and prestige premiere attaining slate of theatrical documentary films and have built up an extensive knowledge of documentary film financing, festivals and markets. I am equally comfortable in a left or right brained capacity and I'm known throughout the industry as a dynamic deliverer. I am also a calm headed and measured strategic thinker and a multi-skilled and inspiring team leader who takes pride in the requirements of delivery to the core priorities of any organization I represent. Across my career, I have built wide ranging connections with key players in the screen industry, both nationally and internationally, with strong ties to producers, broadcasters and commissioners, and festivals and markets across Europe and beyond. These include Hot Docs in Canada, Cannes Film Festival in France, IDFA in The Netherlands, and CPH:DOX in Denmark. I also take pride in my role as a committee member for BAFTA Scotland, a role I have enjoyed for the last two years.
