Andrew grew up in Belmont, a suburb of Boston, MA, where as a teenager he dabbled in music, stage magic, and ventriloquism. He split his undergraduate years at Harvard between creating and performing theatre pieces and satisfying his honors academic work. Upon graduation, he moved to NYC to pursue his acting and writing career, initially focusing on stage work, taking three years off at one point to earn his MFA in Acting from UNC-Chapel Hill. Notable recent New York and Regional Theatre performances in his long stage career include: the Fool in King Lear, Polonius in Hamlet, Charlie in the award-winning 30th Anniversary revival of The Foreigner, Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Jim Casy in The Grapes of Wrath, Clown (15 roles) in The 39 Steps, Vladimir in Waiting for Godot, all 35 roles in I Am My Own Wife, Bazzard in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and the mysterious Eric Finch in the national tour of the stage version of the classic TV series Cheers. He began performing small roles in TV and Film in 2011. His breakthrough came in 2017 when he made his first appearance as Mr. Penn, Penguin's right-hand man in the Season 4 premiere of Fox's hit Batman prequel drama Gotham. His character and performance proved so popular with fans that he became a recurring guest star, appearing in a total of 10 episodes across Seasons 4 and 5. In his last episode of Season 5, Mr. Penn transformed into classic DC Comics villains The Ventriloquist and his murderous dummy, Scarface. In doing so, Andrew made history as the first live-action actor to play these classic DC canon characters. And he performed the actual ventriloquism live on set in real time, adding to the authenticity of the portrayal. Other recent film and TV appearances include Begin Again, Mamarosh, The Smurfs, The Blacklist, The Mysteries of Laura, The Good Fight, and HBO's Divorce. An avid reader, he is also an accomplished voiceover artist and audio book narrator. His most recent titles are Stephen Brumwell's Turncoat and Mary Pilon's The Kevin Show, both available on Audible and Amazon. He lives in Westchester with his husband; they recently celebrated 25 years together. Andrew loves gardening, photography, Celtic music, and chipmunks.
