Jay Rao is an award-winning Canadian film director and writer. He grew up in Toronto and studied film production from 1998-2001 at Trebas Institute and Ryerson University. He also has a degree in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto. He has written and directed 9 short films and several corporate videos. He has also written 4 feature film scripts. His 2002 short film comedy, Raju's Blind Date, played at many festivals around the world and was nominated for best short film at 3 of them. The film also played on CBC television, The Comedy Network and on Air Canada flights in Canada. The film led to a development deal with The Comedy Network to make a TV series based on the film. His 2015 short film, Unforgettable, was shot in Vietnam in Vietnamese. It is his first movie shot outside of Canada and in a foreign language. Already the film has garnered a lot of attention at film festivals, where it has been nominated for several awards and won some of them. Jay lives in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where he is developing his first feature film.
