Steyn is the Co- Author of the South African bestselling non-fiction title Undercover with Mandela's Spies, the boy who crossed the square that he penned with Mark Fine. A memoir of his experiences during the dying days of apartheid known as the dirty war. By trade Steyn is a Global Geopolitical security Advisor and National Security student practitioner. He, was born in Pretoria, South Africa, as a teenager in 1988 he witnessed the Strijdom Square massacre, a mass shooting of innocent citizens of color. That left him with severe PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). With his life ravening out of control he dropped pot of school and was inducted into the South African Navy, Steyn was assigned Intelligence training. When discharged from military duty, Steyn was recruited by the much-feared security police infrastructure of the Apartheid government as a NOC (Non-official Cover). Inspired by the spirit of the people, the African National Congress (ANC), and its Freedom Charter, he dedicated himself to the anti-Apartheid struggle as a deep cover Caucasian operative within the Department of Intelligence and Security (DIS) as a covert spy now operating as a double agent. Under the directive of Chris Hani's and Nelson Mandela's paramilitary wing, uMkhonto weSizwe (MK). The Spear of the Nation. Within the news media space, Steyn is a SME/ analyst specializing in Intelligence, Global Geopolitical security, terrorism, active shooters and Sub Saharan Africa and a film/TV technical advisor. He is a speaker and trainer on anti bulling, workplace and domestic violence. Active shooters, and domestic terrorism. He dedicates his spare time to helping and preparing schools and communities in countering violence He strongly advocates for Service Veterans, mental health and PTSD. Steyn cherishes the classical arts, musical theatre. Steyn is developing an adapted television series in Los Angeles and Cape Town based on his early life in South Africa as a double agent with Mandela's spies and his lifelong struggle with PTSD/ Mental Health.
