Soumitra Bannerjee

Soumitra Bannerjee was an Indian actor who worked mainly in Bengali films. He was regarded one of the most popular actor for his negative roles in 80s and 90s in Bengali Cinema. He was also called "Hobo Jamai". He was born in Damdama village, Pandua, Hooghly. He was a good singer and dancer in his childhood life .In 1982 he got a chance to play the lead role in the movie Troyee. The movie was Super hit in box office. He got limelight for this movie. He went on to play the role of villains in about 150 films. Soumitra Banerjee died on 8 th January 2000 after protracted illness. He was 46. He was admitted to hospital on January 4 in a serious condition. His last film was "Khelaghar".
