Darren trained at Rose Bruford College and has written for film, television, radio and theatre. Companies he has worked for include the BBC, National Youth Theatre, The Royal Albert Hall, Greenwich and Lewisham Young People's Theatre, The London Bubble and the Half Moon. He has written and directed five short films, is a current writer on Doctors and EastEnders for BBC1 and was a writer on the BBC Asian Network radio soap Silver Street. He also works as an independent feature film script editor and script consultant. In 2010 he visited India with Sci-Fi London to run writing workshops in colleges in Mumbai and Ahmadabad on writing Science-Fiction films. Darren currently teaches Film and TV at Rose Bruford College, screenwriting at the BFI and is a visiting lecturer on the MA/MFA writing course at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He had two long form short films out in 2015 (9 Months and Deep Breaths, directed by Gareth Fient) and his own short film Sealed with a Kiss was nominated for Best Short Film at the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards. His Sci-Fi short How to be Human premiered at Sci-Fi London and BFI and has been selected for Encounters and Raindance Film Festivals, as well as winning 'Best Film' at the Florida International film Festival. Most recently he has had a musical (SMOKE) on at Southwark Playhouse and a large-scale community play produced by GLYPT to open a new arts venue in South London. He is currently developing a thriller, three Sci-Fi features and a TV Pilot.
