Gudmundur Thor Karason was born and raised in Reykjavik Iceland. He grew up around visual art and theater and started building and performing puppets from an early age. Gudmundur's goal has always been to build puppets and creatures that come alive, with character and lots of humor. Throughout the years, he has worked on many major projects in television, theater and advertising. In 1998, Gudmundur joined LazyTown Entertainment, an Icelandic production company dedicated to children's health and well-being. He soon became creative director-involved in everything from developing concepts to designing visuals. When the LazyTown television series began production in 2004, Gudmundur was cast as the voice and puppeteer of Ziggy, a six-year-old bundle of energy in an action-packed, candy-colored world.
