Went om stage in 1887 at Odense Theater, a theater he would always return to over the years. Toured abroad for many years - especially Norway (part of Denmark at the time) - where he was introduced to Henrik Ibsen. After performing for Ibsen he was accepted as a leading juvenile in his plays. Lagoni had a sinister and stern look about him - a trait he used successfully in ca. 80 silent films. Nordisk Film hired him in 1909 and he was one of the first Sherlock Holmes in films (1910-11), but mostly appeared in dour character parts. In his very thin book of memoirs, he did not mention one word about his extensive film career. At one time married to actress Alma Lagoni.
