Thijs Römer was born on July 26 1978 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, the Netherlands. He is an actor and director who is known for Nieuwe buren (2014), Family Way (2012), May 6th (2004) and Moordvrouw (2012). Thijs appeared in multiple series and films directed by Theo van Gogh. In 2005 he won a Gouden Kalf for his role as a photo journalist in May 6th (2004). In 2013 he won the Rembrandt Award for his part in Family Way (2012). Römer started his career in theatre where he appeared in "De Zeven Deugden - Doolhof en Orestes". In 2002 Thijs started a theatre group, Annette Speelt, with a few of his fellow students from the Amsterdamse Theaterschool. With this group he brought, amongst others, the plays "De Perzen", "Lucifer", "Revuelutie" and "Othello" to the theaters. In 2012 and 2013 he starred in Cloaca (2003), directed by Gerardjan Rijnders. In August 2013 Thijs appeared in the Dutch adaptation of the New York hit "The Normal Heart". The actor starred in several successful series like Heartbeat (2002), Meiden van de Wit (2002), Grijpstra & de Gier (2004) and Theo van Gogh's Najib en Julia (2003) and Medea (2005). Since 2012 he portrays the police investigator Evert Numan in the RTL hit series Moordvrouw (2012) that is currently in its third season. His latest project is a series alongside his real-life wife Katja Schuurman, which is called Nieuwe buren (2014), and is based on the novel by Saskia Noort. On the big screen he can be seen in Theo van Gogh's Gwen Stefani: Cool (2005), May 6th (2004) and Ter ziele (2005). In the film Blind Date (2007) Thijs played his first English speaking part. The same year Thijs acted in Kapitein Rob en het Geheim van Professor Lupardi (2007). In 2009 Stella's oorlog (2009) and in 2010 Dik Trom (2010) follow. Besidse acting and directing Thijs is putting more focus on his writing.
