Marla Messing served as the president of the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup Organising Committee. Messing originally trained as an attorney but left her career in law to become part of the 1994 World Cup Organising Committee, where she served as Executive Vice President. Following the success of the 1994 World Cup Messing went on to join the original management team that conceived and launched the US soccer league, Major League Soccer. She now runs the U.S Tennis Association and is Vice President and Executive Director of Sport Leader Relations for the 2024 Los Angeles Olympics.
