Having started work out of art college in a small commercials production company in London, Mark went freelance to enable him the flexibility of pursuing his own writing projects. As a freelancer he picked up work as a trailer- maker, before taking up a full-time position in the promotions department of Channel 4, making award-winning trailers and on-air idents. In the mid-90s Mark moved into programme-making as a documentary director, writing and directing films for Discovery, Nat Geo, Channel 4 and the BBC (including 2 BAFTA nominations), before eventually making the move across to drama.
