Nameeta Chandra

Nameeta Chandra is an Indian actress and supporting actress who worked in several Hindi films. Nameeta worked in the Indian Film Industry from 1977 to 1980. Later, she married Dr. Chandragupta Vedak, a psychiatrist, in 1984 and shifted to the USA. Nameeta Chandra is most known for her first superhit movie Paheli in 1977. Directed by Prashant Nanda with Nameeta and Satyajeet as lead actors, Paheli was a hit film of that time which helped her secure a good place in the industry. Another hit by Nameeta Chandra was Ganga Dham in 1980. The film has directed by BS Thapa and starred Shakti Kapoor, Arun Govil, and Nameeta Chandra. Her previous movie was Itihaas, released in 1987. She worked as a supporting actress in this movie starring Raj Kumar, Shabana Azmi, Anil Kapoor, etc. Nameeta is the daughter of Marathi stage actress Vineeta who starred in Saajan Ki Saheli. Her brother is Master Abhitab who starred in Shyam Benegal's Bhumika. Nameeta later settled in Crystal Lake, IL, USA. She had 2 children. A son named Shivam Vedak and a daughter named Priyanka Vedak who married Thomas Knorr.
