Born in Liverpool to Scottish parents, I studied film and literature at Glasgow University, and now work as a filmmaker and creative producer based in London and Stirling, Scotland. Mile End, my feature debut as a writer-director, premiered at the 23rd Raindance Film Festival where it was nominated for Best UK Feature. Mile End has since won 9 international awards, including 5 for Best Film at festivals in New York, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Toronto and Melbourne, and is now streaming on Amazon Prime and Flix Premiere in the UK and USA. I was one of the first filmmakers to win funding from the Arts Council and the National Lottery for my short film Pride, which premiered at the 40th London Film Festival and was released in cinemas by Metro Tartan and broadcast on Channel 4's Shooting Gallery and on Film 4. I won the Best New Talent award at the Merseyside Arts and Entertainment Awards for Pride. My short films have screened theatrically, in festivals across Europe, Asia and North America, and on television in the UK and Europe. I am also a senior creative producer with more than 10 years' experience leading on creative strategy for the Government Digital Service, telling the story of digital transformation across government, as well as on cross-governmental campaigns and live events, social media and internal communications channels.
