Jason Michael Wade was born in Camarillo, California. He was brought up in a Christian family along with his older sister Jamie. His parents were missionaries, and he traveled with them to Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, Sinagpore and Hong Kong, before finally returning to the US after four years away. Wade's parents divorced when he was 12 and he moved with his mother to Port Orchard, Washington. It was during this time that he picked up his mothers guitar and taught himself to play. Three years later, his mother relocated the family to Los Angeles after insisting Port Orchard was too small and restricting for Jason and his emerging talents. It was in Los Angeles that he met bass player Sergio Andrade and drummer Jon "Diff" Palmer. They gigged around the Los Angeles area and soon built up a reputation, playing high school and college campuses under the name Blyss. Word-of-mouth soon reached producer Ron Aniello who eventually introduced the band to Jude Cole who called DreamWorks Records principal Michael Ostin, who had been Cole's own A&R representative when Cole was a recording artist. In 1998, DreamWorks funded Lifehouse's first real demos, which Aniello produced. These eventually formed the early album Diff's Luck Day. Jon Palmer eventually left the band and Jason and Serge met Rick Woolstenhulme who joined as full time drummer. No Name Face, their major label debut, was released in the fall of 2000 and launched the worldwide hit single, Hanging By a Moment. The single became the most played song of 2001 on US radio and still stands as one of the most successful tracks ever on the Billboard Hot 100. The album eventually sold over 4 million copies worldwide and launched the band into the big time. The band has released six studio albums to date and have sold over 15 million records worldwide. Jason Wade has also branched out on his own, recording tracks for Shrek and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. In 2013, Jason revealed on Facebook that Lifehouse is on temporary hiatus after parting ways with Geffen Records after eight years. His debut solo album is expected in 2014.
