Eric Johner was born in Evanston, Illinois and first studied at The Piven Theatre Group, where he caught the eye of Piven founder and father of Jeremy Piven - Byrne Piven. He was eventually put on scholarship and did office work and carpentry at the theater to reciprocate and help pay for workshops. The Piven Theatre is home to many actors such as John Cusack, Aidan Quinn, Lili Taylor and Jeremy Piven, among others. He continued performing in the great Chicago theater community and was eventually accepted into the prestigious Steppenwolf Theatre's Acting Residency program. He later went on to star opposite Gary Sinise in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" on Broadway and in London. The show won a Tony Award on Broadway, and Eric garnered critical acclaim for his moving and subtle portrayal of the suicidal Billy Bibbitt. Eric recently appeared opposite Michael Rooker, from The Walking Dead, in the Chicago based film, Scott's Dead.
