Grifa Filmes's co-founder, Director and Producer, Mauricio Dias leads the Brazilian film company for over 25 years. Grifa Filmes is twice OSCAR® qualified and was three times nominated for the International Emmy Awards. His filmography includes more than 60 documentaries films, series and telefilms produced for renowned broadcasters and streaming such as Netflix, HBO, Discovery, NATGEO, NHK, ARTE France, ZDF, France 3, France 5, CBC, Globo channels, RecordTV, TV Cultura, TV Brasil, BAND, Canal Brazil and many others. Among his latest films, we can highlight New Species, the Brazilian-to-the-world great production which follows renowned scientists as they plan and set off for a major expedition within a still unexplored part of the Amazon Rainforest in search of new species. Having two special versions for ARTE/ZDF (Germany-France) and NHK (Japan), both released in 2018, this successful production was released in Brazilian theatres and on GloboNews; and his first original project to NETFLIX, JOHN OF GOD, about a famous Brazilian spiritual leader who is accused of rape by hundreds of women, among other crimes, launched on August 25th, 2021. The series was a buzz on social media during the weeks following its launching, reaching the Top 10 in Brazil and Portugal.
