Sunil Sadarangani

Sunil Sadarangani is a Mumbai born-Los Angeles based multiple award-winning producer and writer and started his film career at MTV Networks, India. He has traveled the world producing fiction films and documentaries for over 15 years with productions from the US, India, Sweden, Germany, Lebanon, France, Australia, and the UK. One of his most prominent achievements was serving as Producer for 3 segments of the 15-part documentary series called 'World Religions' where he secured rare permission to shoot at The Golden Temple and an exclusive one-hour interview with the Dalai Lama. Some of his other successes have been projects including features 'September Tapes' (First Look Media) and multiple award-winning 'The Answer'; international broadcast documentaries 'Bollywood Extras' and 'India Pa Vag (Swedish National Television) to name a few. He has created award-winning short films 'In Transit' (Shorts International and Oscar nomination qualifier), 'Blind', 'Nova', and 'With You'. He is the co-founder and Director of Programming of the Ojai Short Film Festival. Two films programmed at the 2018 festival, secured Oscar nominations (Weekends and Period. End of Sentence) with the latter winning the 2019 Oscar for Best Documentary Short. For the 2019 Ojai Short Film Fest, there were over 200 submissions which were shortlisted to a total of 68 official selections - 39 in competition and 29 out of competition by Sadarangani and his programming team. The 1st place Audience Choice Award went to Season 2 / Episode 2 of the AMC Networks/Sundance TV original, 'This Close'. Sadarangani also oversees publicity, media, outreach, and operations. He has been officially accredited as a writer covering film and digital media at leading film festivals and industry award events such as Sundance, Tribeca, LA Film Festival, Colcoa French Film Festival, Indie Spirit Awards, and the Academy Awards. Most recently Sunil was invited to be on the jury of the 2019 Los Angeles Greek Film Festival and is a Senior Assistant Programmer at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, and Outfest, Los Angeles. Sunil has been recognized by the California State Senate for his ongoing commitment to creativity and innovation in the Los Angeles community.
