Irish actor who moved to England in the mid-1950s to get better parts. Tragically, found unconscious in his Paddington flat on 2 February 1963, and later died in Paddington General Hospital from barbiturate poisoning. Television colleagues testified at the St Pancras inquest on 8 February 1963 that the 39-year-old actor had been suffering from anxiety about forgetting his lines in new series The Plane Makers (1963) in which he was to play the works manager. The coroner returned an open verdict.
