Salome Mulugeta is a talented American actor commended by the LA Times for her lead role in her prized film "Woven" and a multi-talented, award-winning filmmaker. LA Times acclaimed Salome's "Woven" character, Elenie, for resonating with audiences and Essence Magazine praised "Woven" as a "must-see" film. Salome co-directed, produced and co-wrote "Woven": an LA Film Festival World Premiere feature film. Salome was awarded the coveted Achievement and Perseverance Award by the Women's Journey Foundation for her accomplishments in acting, directing, producing and writing. African Diaspora International Film Festival, NYC, awarded "Woven" The Audience Narrative Award for Film Directed by Women of Color. "Woven" is chronicled at the Library of Congress for being made by an African-descent woman of color, Salome Mulugeta. Salome was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. At an early age, Salome left Ethiopia to attend a boarding school for girls in Bedford, England, where she studied acting at their School of Theater and won many prestigious acting competitions, including receiving Outstanding Performer of the Year. Salome was hailed as a "forceful talent." In 2017, Salome worked as lead producer with six-time Emmy winner Bobby Yan on his prized film, "Marz". "Marz" won the Best Narrative Short award at the International Black Film Festival, Nashville. Salome's television and online media career includes roles where she directs and produces commercials and independent short stories. Her Ethiopian Airlines commercial (for the Number 1 airline in Africa) went viral after its release. She contributes content for the US-based Africa Channel. Salome has produced and directed shows for "The African Restaurant Week", "Muziki Ni", and has directed and hosted a debut show called, "A Day in the Life of". Her short, "Bridging the Color Gap in Hollywood", also aired on The Africa Channel. Productions with Coke Studios, Coca Cola, extend her multifaceted media and production experience, professionally and internationally, and includes a Coca Cola, Africa, commercial. In September 2018, her short, "A Lit Light Bulb", that showcases Africa's energy crisis, screened at the United Nations, New York. Salome was selected for Film Independent Directing Lab 2017 for her upcoming directorship of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship award-winning script, "Addis Abeka". "Addis Abeka" will be produced by accomplished film producer, Stephanie Allain of Homegrown Pictures. In addition to her represented list of press, Vibe Magazine featured Salome and "Woven's" story, Salome Discusses Lessons of Woven, and My New York Eye has awarded Salome the title, Artist of the Month, Artist of the month: Salome Mulugeta. Salome was casted in the acclaimed film, "Baby of the Family"; a film based on the New York Times bestseller book "Baby of the Family". The film was directed by the award-winning Jonee' Ansa.
