Born and raised Kanpur, India, Amit Sial discovered acting at the age of eight, and since then, has appeared in numerous stage productions across India, including in particular the lead role of Tim Supple's adapted version of Salman Rushdie's Haround and the Sea of Stories, directed by noted Mumbai-based experimental theatre director, Neeraj Kabi. Sial also has directed two short adaptations of Shakespeare's MacBeth and Romeo & Juliet for the short play festival organized by the Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai. Sial studied at Delhi University (B.Com. with Honours) and Swinbourne University of Technology in Australia (International Business). Back in India, he has worked with several theatre directors, including the acclaimed Barry John. Hope & a Little Sugar (2006) marks his feature film debut.
