Jim grew up in Saratoga, California, outside of San Jose, with his brother Jason Van Over. Their father is computer graphic artist James Van Over. Following his BFA from Southern Oregon University, Jim did a two year stint as an actor at the acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. He now lives in Los Angeles.
