The son of a fisherman, Chilean big wave surfer Ramón Navarro grew up in and around the ocean. Navarro was nominated for Ride of the Year at the 2012 Billabong XXL Awards, finished second in the 2011 Big Wave World Tour and was a nominee in the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year (2013). As an activist, he has led protests against proposed sewage pipelines in Pichilemu and is a Save the Waves Surf Ambassador. This is the cause closest to his heart, particularly the water which surrounds his home turf.With a reputation for fearlessness in giant surf, he brings the same passion and bravery to his activism work. From saving Punta de Lobos to taking on Chile's fish farm industry and led community opposition to a proposed sewage pipeline at Pichilemu, Chile. Ramón now dedicates his life to preserving his country's vibrant coast.
