Roberto Leggio was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1963. Since a child he had been fond of literature. He drew and painted in a professional art institute in Vicenza. Rebellious and sporadic in his studies, he still won a scholarship grant and moved to Edinburgh, where he stayed for two years. Back in Italy he worked at Fine Arts Dept. of Venice University and as keeper in a museum. This situation did not satisfies him, and he moved to Spain. For six months he lived between Lloret De Mar and Barcelona, where he took many jobs while frequenting the cultural circle of Nueva Tendencia. Thereby he became proficient with the cine-camera and some painting techniques. In 1987 he returned to Venice: wrote, produced and directed "Breaking Glass", an experimental short film. The same year he set up StudioOmbra agency, where he worked as an advertising agent and Art Director, and simultaneously the multimedia Neurotica firm, which also includes painting, photography and music. In 1992 he definitively abandoned the advertising /multimedia activity and began writing full time. His works were divided between the activities of cinematography journalist (for many nationwide papers) and the writing of tales, theatrical texts, scripts and screenplays for the cinema. He published many tales and essays, among them: Oltre l'Alba (Editoria Universitaria, 1994), Effetti Elementari (Albert Gardin Edizioni, 1996), Andrea G. Pinketts, l'Ultimo Cowboy Metropolitano (Fareneith 451, 1998). In 2004 he directed - in cooperation with Federico Greco - the documentary "H. P. Lovecraft, Hypothesis of a journey in Italy", presented LXI Venice Film Festival; and the movie "Road To L. - The Lovecraft Mystery", winner of the Silver Meliés prize at the XXV FantaFestival of Rome. Since 1996 he lives and works in Rome.
