Born in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, in the North East of England, R. Asheem Singh studied Law at the University of Oxford and then Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, having optioned his first script whilst taking his final examinations as an undergraduate. He subsequently produced and presented documentaries, including 2007's ironic short 'Size Zero Heroes'. A double Frank Allen Bullock award winner for creative writing while at Oxford, he was also a joint recipient of Prospect Magazine's 'One to Watch' award for think-tanking in 2010, with his non-fiction book, 'The Venture Society' receiving a special citation. He lives and writes in London.
