Hakim, "HAK", was born in Detroit, Michigan. HAK left the corporate financial tier of entertainment, as a Sr. Financial Analyst for Barry Diller and his many film and television companies: USA Networks, USA Broadcasting, Home Shopping Network, and Savoy Pictures, to peruse his passion for writing and directing. He worked as a telemarketer and studied film at UCLA, until close friend, Camille Friend, introduced him to Martin Glover, on the filming of "Coach Carter" (2005). Martin Glover hired Hakim to work as a video Assist Operator, which began the snowballing of a successful film career. In 2003, HAK wrote an original script, "White Boy Rick", that quickly circled through the hands of George Furla, Mark Whalberg, Antoine Fuqua, Paul Rosenburg and Jimmy Iovine. Though the film was never given the green light, it introduced HAK'S to several key decision makers in Hollywood. In 2005, HAK founded his own productions company, Picture That Productions, LLC, specializes in screenwriting, documentaries, music videos, and film production. While filming a documentary for Def Jam recording artist, "DRO", HAK had the opportunity to meet and work with Russell Simmons. Being impressed with HAK's unique vision and screenwriting skills, that he hired HAK to direct the lead music video for the feature film, "Waist Deep." HAK'S success on his music video directorial debut, landed him his next job to write and direct the feature film, "4 LIFE", starring Wood Harris and Elise Neal. In 2010, HAK wrote and directed his most prized film to date, "FORGIVENESS", a faith based film, starring Richard T. Jones. In the summer of 2015, "FORGIVENESS" garnered a multitude of awards including, Best Feature Film at the HBO, Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, Best Feature at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival, Best Feature at the Gary Indiana Black Film Festival, and Best Faith Based Film at the International Black Film Festival Nashville. FORGIVENESS is currently distributed by Novus / GVN / Sony Home Entertainment. Hakim is a graduate of Morehouse College, with a BS in Finance.
