A descendant from one of the founding families of New Jersey, Gwyn English Nielsen's ancestors were given the land grant of Englishtown, New Jersey by King George II. Five ancestors honorably served with the Continental Army under General George Washington. Today Ms. Nielsen is an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ms Nielsen graduated from Bucknell University cum laude with a B.A. in English, Communications/Theatre Arts & Education. She performed in seven main-stage productions, directed cocktail theater and had her own radio news show on WVBU-AM & FM. She also worked with Academy Award winning directors John Avildsen and Arthur Penn. Ms. Nielsen began a career in the entertainment business at WPIX in New York. She then joined Group W Satellite Communications where she was on the launch teams for the basic cable stations Satellite News Channel (bought & merged into CNN) and The Nashville Network which evolved over the years into Paramount Network. During the heyday of the home video business Ms Nielsen owned and operated a video store and production business in the bedroom community of Summit, New Jersey which catered to entertainment industry professionals like ABC News' Charlie Gibson. Ms. Nielsen returned to college where she received a M.A. in Creative Writing from Farleigh Dickinson, graduating with a 3.9 GPA. A published author of four books, her most recent FROM FOOTLIGHTS TO FLASHLIGHTS, a collection of plays for teenagers, received a stellar review from Kirkus. Ms. Nielsen is included in Who's Who Among America's Teachers as well as Who's Who in America. Most recently she received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Who's Who. Ms Nielsen recently stepped away from teaching English and Dramatic Arts to concentrate on her writing and is currently entertaining offers to return to the stage and screen.
