Alan Colegrave has now worked in the TV / Film Production industry for over 50 years and although his direction has changed he is still working. Back those 50 plus years ago, he joined the BBC from 6th form college. It would another 10 years before he would write and direct his first 16mm funded film. The film went down well and was taken up by a film library. He continued to produce 16mm short films for some time until video came on the scene. In 1980 he moved to ITN (Independent Television News). At that time, he was working as a VT editor. He only stayed 3 years before moving to WTN, later Associated Press. Although the work was interesting it was not the direction he wanted to go. So in 1990 he decided to leave fulltime employment to become a freelance producer. His work was about 50% News, 30% Documentary and 20% others. In all, he has either produced, directed or directed and produced some 50 TV programmes. Some but not all are on IMDb. He worked in television until about 10 years ago when he decided to concentrate on drama and move towards making feature films.
