Although one of the most important bands of the German heavy metal scene, Accept achieved only limited international success when their 1983 album 'Balls to the Wall' that became an international hit. The band, originally founded in 1968 as Band X by lead vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes in the West German town of Solingen, continued to exist throughout the decades with alternate line-ups but always kept its hard edge when it comes to their sound.
