Steve Petersen is an award-winning, Cuban-American, filmmaker who has extensive experience directing live-action and VFX. In 2003 he co-founded the vfx studio/production company Big Machine. Petersen combines his love of storytelling with his design background to create new and fresh styles of visual execution. He continually brings this aesthetic to his short form work in the advertising industry and to the long-form work he has produced and directed. He is a member of the PGA and the Academy. In 2015 he won an Emmy for his show "Future Cats" on National Geographic Channel. Steve has also produced large VR / 360 projects and understands the uniqueness of the medium. He is hands on with all of the latest cameras and post technology and can guide VR projects from production though post. This includes 360 spatial audio delivery, stereoscopic capture, creating active or passive experiences, designing full UI, interactive menus, creating custom apps and deployment on all platforms and headsets. Steve has directed spots for commercial clients including: Ubisoft, Mattel, Hasbro, Disney, Dodge Microsoft and Geico. Some of his network clients include Discovery, National Geographic and AMC. Steve was honored to be included in the Shoot New Directors Showcase. Today, he continues his work with Big Machine and is currently developing several new feature film projects. He is represented by the Gersh agency and Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.
