Liam Hyland was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to parents Nancy Hyland, a drama teacher, and Garrison Bennett, a nightclub owner. He was performing as young as the age of 4. Whether it was for his family at his grandparent's house or in one of his mother's high school productions. By the age of 10 he was directing the neighborhood kids in productions of his own. When his family got a video camera for Christmas the sky was the limit. He would act out his favorite scenes from Indiana Jones and gather the family to watch screenings of his performances. His big break came when he was 12. The local CTV station was producing a children's show called Wonder Why. He went and auditioned for the producers but heard nothing back. He joked that it was his first Hollywood rejection. Then a few weeks later he received a call asking him if he would be available to start filming. The first season he was in 6 episodes and the following three seasons was moved up to series regular. He played the character of Question Mark. It was a mix of Columbo meets Joe Friday. The show ran for 10 more years in syndication while he finished high school. After one unsuccessful year at college he dropped out and moved to New York City where he did a bit of theater, appearing in Shotgun Productions, The Chaos Theories. Serving as Associate Director and with a small role as a sarcastic waiter in the productions short run. In 2005 he moved back to Halifax and returned to school. In 2008 he received a combined honors degree in journalism and history. Since 2011 he has lived in Los Angeles with his wife where he is the Camera Operator for CTV National News and continues to pursue his dream of acting.
