Diwata (inspired by the Philippine mythology) is a Filipino singer-comedienne who made a mark with the Tagalog remake of the English song "Sincerely" and became well known with "Sisirin Mo", a naughty song with double meaning that titillated the masses' imagination from her self titled album "Diwata". This album launched a whole new genre of songs that shocked the sensibilities of the predominantly Catholic Philippines in the year 2001. Her second album "Sa 'Yo", produced by D'Concorde Recording Corp. consists of 10 songs that changed her sexy image. Seductive on stage, Diwata is conservative by nature. Off stage, she dresses like a normal person and goes to mass every Sunday. Before she became a singer, she was a member of the Philippine Barangay Folk Dance Troupe who performed in big hotels and theaters locally and abroad. She was also the lead vocalist of the dissolved rock band "820" and "Spiritz of D-Wata". She pursued her dream of becoming a politician when she campaigned for a councilwoman's post in Caloocan in 2004 election. However she withdrew her candidacy barely three months into the election after realizing that politics is much dirtier than show business and decided to become an active member of Victory Christian Fellowship who inspired her to join a missionary team in Kyrgyztan. Diwata is also featured in the movie D' uragons never umuurong always sumusulong (2002) and she also played the part of a sexy but dumb housemaid in the GMA7 sitcom "Beh Bote Nga", for one year. Her recording company Concorde allowed her to rest after the election was over waiting for a suitable music that would suit her style. While serving the Lord, Diwata met an Irish/ German descent American guy and got married in 2007. She is now residing in the USA and ministering to Myanmar refugees.
